Miyamoto Says Nintendo Is Focused On Core Rather Than Casual Gaming Market Now

Mario creator and game designer Shigeru Miyamoto has stated that Nintendo is no longer concerned with the casual gaming market. In a recent feature with Edge Magazine, Miyamoto explained Nintendo’s current stance was its particular need to focus on the dedicated core fan-base. Since the shift to mobile gaming, the casual and “passive” market – that Nintendo profited from in the days of the Wii and DS generation – is no longer there.
